Description
Commercial Broiler Breeder Parent Stock Package
This Broiler Breeder, also known as Broiler Parent Stock, package is designed for established poultry businesses, hatchery operators and agricultural investors who want to build a planned supply of fertile broiler hatching eggs. One complete package contains 1,000 point-of-lay breeder hens and 100 productive breeder roosters, giving the buyer a total placement of 1,100 live birds. The planned ratio is ten hens per rooster, providing a practical commercial starting structure for mating, flock management and fertile-egg production.
The package price is R481,250 ex works in South Africa. Across the complete 1,100-bird package, this is equivalent to R437.50 per chicken (R481,250 divided by 1,100 birds). The product is ordered and invoiced as one complete package rather than as individual birds. Any applicable VAT is calculated according to the checkout and invoicing rules. Transport, export preparation, veterinary testing, permits, certificates, insurance, border charges, customs services, destination taxes, duties, offloading and delivery to the receiving farm are not included unless they are expressly added to a written quotation.
What the Package Includes
- 1,000 broiler breeder hens supplied at the agreed point-of-lay stage.
- 100 productive broiler breeder roosters intended to support mating within the flock.
- A total planned flock of 1,100 live parent-stock birds.
- Ex-works availability from the confirmed handover point in South Africa.
- Order planning for South African customers and eligible export destinations in the SADC region.
- Coordination of a placement schedule, rearing programme and expected handover window.
The exact strain, age, vaccination history, flock health documentation, handover location and availability window will be confirmed in the seller’s written order schedule. “Point of lay” describes the intended production stage near the onset of breeder egg production; it does not promise that every hen will begin laying on the same date. Live-bird condition, maturity and performance are influenced by genetics, nutrition, lighting, health, housing, handling and environmental management.
Built for Fertile Hatching-Egg Production
Broiler parent stock are the male and female breeding birds used to produce fertile eggs for commercial broiler chick production. They are not ordinary table-egg layers and they are not slaughter-ready broilers. A breeder enterprise must manage male and female body condition, feed allocation, lighting, nest access, floor eggs, egg collection, sanitation, storage and incubation as one connected production system.
The inclusion of 100 roosters establishes a starting male allocation of one rooster for every ten hens. This planned ratio does not guarantee a specific fertility percentage, hatchability percentage, chick output or production result. Rooster activity, flock uniformity, hen receptivity, disease status, nutrition, mating behaviour, mortality, housing design and daily stockmanship all affect performance. Buyers should work with a qualified poultry adviser and veterinarian to develop a breeder-management programme suitable for the selected genetic strain and local conditions.
Approximately 30 Weeks from Placement to Handover
This is a forward-planned, made-to-order livestock package and is therefore listed as available on backorder. Once the order requirements have been confirmed and cleared payment has been received, day-old parent-stock chicks are placed at approved rearing farms for the customer’s programme. The expected period from chick placement to shipment or collection of the point-of-lay flock is approximately 30 weeks.
The 30-week period is an estimate rather than a guaranteed delivery date. Final timing depends on chick availability, biological development, flock uniformity, vaccination and veterinary programmes, health status, rearing-farm capacity, export documentation, permits, inspection availability, transport capacity, route conditions and border procedures. The seller will communicate material scheduling changes and will confirm the proposed handover window before transport is booked.
Payment and Scheduled Placement Planning
Each committed flock order must be paid in full before the associated day-old parent-stock chicks are placed at the rearing farm. This protects the long rearing cycle and reserves production capacity for the named buyer. An online order or enquiry is subject to final written confirmation of the placement date, strain, source, rearing capacity, commercial terms and destination requirements.
Farmers planning recurring or future placements are encouraged to share their preferred production calendar early. A scheduled payment and placement plan may be arranged in writing so that multiple future flock placements can be organised smoothly. Unless the parties expressly agree otherwise in a signed schedule, a payment plan does not mean that chicks will be placed before the relevant flock has been paid for in full. It is a planning mechanism for orderly reservations, cash-flow dates and farm readiness, not an automatic extension of credit.
South African Ex-Works Supply
“Ex works South Africa” means the advertised package price covers the birds made available at the confirmed South African handover point. The exact collection point, transfer of responsibility, loading arrangements and risk allocation must be recorded in the final quotation or supply agreement. Buyers should not assume that road transport, crates, route permits, insurance, veterinary attendance or offloading are included in the R481,250 price.
For delivery within South Africa, GroSpace or the seller can prepare a separate transport quotation once the farm location, access conditions, required vehicle configuration and proposed date are known. The receiving farm must be ready before dispatch, with secure breeder housing, clean equipment, appropriate feed and water systems, lighting controls, quarantine procedures, biosecurity controls and trained personnel.
SADC Export Orders and Veterinary Documentation
Transport to each eligible SADC destination is calculated separately. Export costs differ materially by country, route, distance, border post, permit conditions, veterinary tests, inspection requirements, vehicle specification and the number of birds. The customer must provide the destination farm details and intended border route before an export transport quotation can be prepared.
Where export is permitted, the consignment is intended to travel with the required South African veterinary export health documentation, sometimes informally described by customers as a “ZA certificate”. That phrase must not be understood as a universal permit or an automatic guarantee of entry. The importing country’s current import permit and veterinary conditions determine the health declarations, tests, treatments, quarantine, facility approvals and official certification needed for that shipment. Requirements can change and approval remains subject to the relevant authorities.
The buyer or importer is responsible for obtaining valid destination-country import authority, appointing any required clearing agent, confirming farm registration and ensuring that the receiving facility complies with local law. The exporter and attending South African state-veterinary services must be given the official importing-country conditions in sufficient time to prepare, inspect and certify the birds. No export journey will be confirmed until the parties are satisfied that the required documentation and operational arrangements are in place.
Preparing the Receiving Breeder Farm
A breeder flock represents a substantial biological and financial investment. Before arrival, the buyer should complete cleaning and disinfection, pest control, water-quality checks, equipment testing and a documented biosecurity plan. Housing must provide suitable floor space, ventilation, temperature control, litter, feeder and drinker access, nest provision and emergency power where necessary. Male and female feeding systems may require different controls depending on the strain and management programme.
The receiving team should record bird counts and visible condition at handover, then monitor body weight, uniformity, feed and water intake, mortality and behaviour. Any transport concern should be documented immediately. A poultry veterinarian should guide vaccination continuity, disease surveillance, isolation and response procedures. Mixing the arriving flock with birds of unknown status can introduce avoidable health risks and should be assessed carefully.
Production Planning and Responsible Expectations
Successful fertile-egg production depends on more than purchasing the birds. Buyers should model feed requirements, labour, breeder-house capacity, nest capacity, egg-room hygiene, storage temperature, egg transport, incubator capacity, hatchery scheduling and markets for day-old broiler chicks. Records should include daily egg production, floor eggs, cracked or rejected eggs, fertility observations, hatch results, male condition, feed use and flock mortality.
This marketplace listing does not guarantee egg numbers, fertility, hatchability, chick sales, mortality, production duration or profit. Results vary with the genetic strain, flock condition, feed specification, water, disease pressure, climate, lighting, housing, transport stress, hatchery practice and management. Any forecast supplied during commercial discussions is an estimate for planning and should be tested against the buyer’s operating costs and local market.
How to Order
Place one package in the cart or use the seller-contact option to begin a scheduled supply discussion. Provide the destination country and farm, preferred placement window, intended border route, receiving-house capacity and whether the order is a single flock or part of a recurring programme. The seller will then confirm availability, the proposed rearing placement, the estimated handover window and any country-specific information needed for a transport and export quotation.
Important: The R481,250 price is for one complete package of 1,000 point-of-lay hens and 100 breeder roosters, ex works in South Africa. The product is supplied on backorder with an expected lead time of approximately 30 weeks after cleared payment and confirmed chick placement. Export transport and destination-country costs are quoted separately. Every order remains subject to written availability, animal-health, veterinary, legal and logistics confirmation.
